SAN FRANCISCO, CA, Jul 16, 2013 (Marketwired via COMTEX) –
McGuire Real Estate is proud to announce the addition of nine new
agents to its Bay Area locations since May. We’d like to welcome
three new agents to our Elmwood Office, four new agents in San
Francisco, one new agent in the Peninsula, as well as in Mill Valley.

“Right now is an exceptional time for San Francisco Bay Area real
estate and the same can be said of our exceptional team of McGuire
Agents serving seven counties across all four regions,” said Charles
E. Moore, President/CEO of McGuire Real Estate. “I couldn’t be more
pleased with this group of hardworking professionals who continue to
carry the McGuire spirit into the years ahead.”

PENINSULA

Jacklyn Friedland has been successfully representing home buyers and
sellers across the Bay Area for more than a decade. She specializes
in selling high net worth property, working short sales and REOs,
investment and development, customer relationship management,
residential and commercial real estate, and sports relocation
services. A family background in real estate and strong ties to the
community, Jacklyn has developed valuable relationships unique to
other business models. She is a preferred REALTOR(R) to the San
Francisco 49ers organization and has worked with many professional
athletes to purchase, sell or lease property in the Bay Area.

SAN FRANCISCO – SOMA

Tori Patton is a fifth generation Bay Area native that has a deep
understanding for what makes San Francisco and the Bay Area a great
place to live. Growing up on the peninsula and living in the city
give her a local’s familiarity with many different parts of the Bay
Area, as well as access to an extensive network which is an
invaluable asset to her clients. Tori began her real estate career by
teaming up with a Top Producer at McGuire’s SOMA Office, and over the
course of the last two years she has helped successfully close over
30 transactions. A resident of the Marina District and member of the
Marina Community Association, she stays involved on the latest
developments and changes in the neighborhood.

Vernon Pipkin is a longtime resident of San Francisco that’s
well-versed in the construction of residential high rise buildings
and single-family dwellings. He enjoys working with people from all
walks of life — whether it is buyers or sellers — and helping them
realize the value and potential of a home and neighborhood is what
allows him to build strong relationships and results for his trusted
clients. Vernon has more than 15 years of experience working with
both national and international corporations. He’s owned and operated
his own design and mechanical product manufacturing company servicing
the building industry.

Tim Farnham is best known for his dedication to his client
relationships, whether they’re in the process of buying or selling
their home. His clients often comment that the greatest perk to
working with him is the personal attention that he affords for every
single client. It can be difficult to find another agent with as much
positive energy and enthusiasm as Tim possesses.

SAN FRANCISCO – MARINA

Ryan Maliszewski is a third-generation real estate professional whose
design and marketing expertise gives him a unique and powerful
perspective on how to identify and unlock the underlying value of a
building for its owners. He also focuses on analyzing and
understanding market data and trends with the help of McGuire’s
in-house research department. As a recent first-time buyer of a
multi-unit rental property, Ryan personally understands the ups and
downs of the real estate transaction process. For his clients, Ryan
makes the real estate process smooth and exciting by applying his
unique experience and passion to showcase San Francisco’s hidden
gems.

EAST BAY

Kim Florence brings to her clients a love of home and design, a
determination to deliver results, an uncompromising eye for detail,
experience in social media and use of the latest technology, and a
sense of humor. Prior to real estate, she was a Consultant with
BearingPoint where she spent the majority of her time writing,
reviewing and presenting contracts between her company and the State
of California. Although her education and work experience lend itself
well to contract writing and negotiation, it was Kim’s love of
everything house and home that brought her to real estate.

Patricia Pillsbury is a fifth generation San Franciscan and a
homeowner for over three decades. With deep roots in the city, she’s
expanded her horizons to the East Bay’s beautiful Berkeley and its
neighboring communities. In addition to her personal knowledge of the
Bay Area, Patricia offers a network of real estate professionals
including mortgage brokers, inspectors, stagers, and title companies.
A lifelong equestrian, she now enjoys riding the trails in Tilden
Park, giving her a unique perspective of all that the East Bay has to
offer.

Tom Chantler has a seasoned eye for aesthetics and the possibilities
inherent in homes. A longtime resident of Rockridge and Upper
Rockridge, Tom is familiar with the intricacies and charms of our
diverse and eclectic East Bay neighborhoods. Tom is one of the Bay
Area’s top voiceover talents. His career has spanned two decades and
he is represented in San Francisco, Portland, Los Angeles and New
York. Chances are that you have heard his voice or seen his face on
the air.

MARIN

Cynthia Rosen is a full-time REALTOR(R) in Marin County, who prior to
McGuire was with Alain Pinel Realtors in Corte Madera, and prides
herself on being a “one stop real estate shop” for her clients.
Before representing home buyers and sellers, she was a Wholesale Loan
Officer with StoneCastle Land Home Financial where she specialized
in refinancing, and an Insurance Broker with New York Life Insurance
Company. Cynthia is a member of the National Association of
REALTORS(R), Marin Association of REALTORS(R), and Rotary Club of
Corte Madera, as well as a Certified Negotiation Specialist.

Retail manufacturers put great stock in the ability of athletes and other celebrity endorsers to help them move shoes, sports drinks and other goods off of store shelves. Now a real estate broker in California’s Silicon Valley is betting that a former San Francisco 49ers star who made a famous catch 30 years ago can help the firm sign up clients and sell homes.

Cupertino, Calif.-based Intero Real Estate Services Inc. President Gino Blefari hopes NFL football legend Dwight Clark, the firm’s new celebrity endorser, will be as good for his business as he was for San Francisco Bay Area fans.

It was Jan. 10, 1982. The NFL semifinal game between the Joe Montana-led San Francisco 49ers and the Dallas Cowboys. Down by six points with seconds left to play in the game, the 49ers had the ball near the Cowboys’ end zone and needed a touchdown. That’s when Clark pulled off “The Catch,” tying the game and catapulting the 49ers to a win that led to their first Super Bowl championship.

It’s not clear what kind of influence Clark’s endorsement will have for Intero, which has 50 offices and 2,000 agents in Silicon Valley, and a four-office mortgage wing.

At least one study, co-authored by a Harvard University professor and Barclays Capital analyst, found celebrity endorsements increase sales by an average of 4 percent. But that study considered celebrity endorsements of consumer goods like bottled water, cameras and cosmetics, not real estate.

The athletes evaluated in the study, including Michael Jordan, Roger Federer, LeBron James and Tiger Woods, dominated their respective sports, and some are still at the height of their powers.

But Clark’s magic moment from 30 years ago — one that launched an NFL franchise to Super Bowl heights — still shines for Blefari, and he hopes it will for his team and their prospective clients and partners, too.

Blefari said Clark will earn a retainer for a certain number of hours of work, will wear Intero gear at celebrity golf tournaments, and give motivational speeches on discipline and hard work to Intero employees. He’ll also play a role in building relationships with new partners.

“The name Dwight Clark in the Bay Area is gold,” Blefari said. He plans to leverage Clark’s fame to get meetings with CEOs of small- and medium-sized businesses he’d like to work with. “Dwight’s celebrity factor can get us appointments,” he said.

Blefari wouldn’t discuss the payment details of the endorsement, but it’s safe to bet that it won’t be anywhere near the cost of current superstar celebrity athletes. Newly minted champion and NBA superstar LeBron James raked in an estimated $30 million for endorsements in 2011. Tiger Woods, his recent struggles notwithstanding, made twice that in 2011 endorsements.

Intero is not the only real estate company leveraging Super Bowl glory.

Earlier this year, Century 21 Real Estate became the first real estate company in 21 years to advertise during the Super Bowl. The ad featured ex-NFL star Deion Sanders, U.S. Olympic speed skater Apolo Ohno and TV celebrity mogul Donald Trump. Century 21 Chief Marketing Officer Beverly Thorne called the NFL championship game “the last great campfire for the American family.” Century 21 also recently became a sponsor of U.S. Soccer.

Former UCLA QB Drew Olson has worked in real estate for Jones Lang LaSalle since 2010 in the San Francisco Bay area.

In September of 2011, he began as co-host on “Bay Area Game Day” on 95.7 FM, which is a college football radio that show that also features former Stanford center Mike McClaughlin and ex-Miami (FL) QB and 1992 Heisman winner Gino Torretta.

Olson had a prolific career at UCLA, where he is among school leaders in yards, completions and touchdowns. He was on the rosters of the NFL’s Carolina Panthers and San Francisco 49ers in 2007 after a short stint in NFL Europe.

After being cut by the 49ers in July of 2008, Olson tried his hand in the eventually dissolved United National Gridiron League before joining Jones Lang LaSalle.

Nnamdi Asomugha is the top free agent available, no matter who you happen to ask. Well, I guess if you asked one of the other free agents or their moms, or perhaps fans of teams without a cornerback need, they might say somebody else. But when it comes to everybody else in the real world, Asomugha is the guy that any team in the league would be happy to have. It says a lot that the New York Jets are heavily pursuing him, seeing as how they have perhaps the other half of that “one of the best cornerbacks in the league” equation in Darrelle Revis.

The team with arguably the best cornerback in the league is trying to land Nnamdi Asomugha. That’s how good he is.

It’s an unfortunate circumstance for the 49ers: having the Jets to bid against. Not because they have deep pockets or are willing to offer more money than San Francisco, but because Nnamdi is probably willing to take less money to play for them, considering the state of their team. In New York, he wouldn’t have to be on every number one wide receiver and he wouldn’t be alone on that defense.

For Revis, he has to bring in a partner for his island resort business, but Revis Island (renamed Revisomugha Island?) would then double in real estate. He’s all for the business venture, according to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, who had this quote from Revis:

He’s the best CB in the league. Me and him as a tandem would be unbelievable. It would be awesome

All isn’t lost for the 49ers, who are still pursuing Nnamdi, and appear to have “some” leverage due to their convenient placement in the Bay Area. When you’re talking about a couple million in differences and you don’t have to buy a new house, things do start to look a bit better. He’d certainly be a great fit and now with the news that the 49ers are going to be releasing Nate Clements, it lends to the thought that Asomugha might be attainable. After all, they wouldn’t release him (and free up $15 million in the process) when Shawntae Spencer is the only option, right?

Right?

SB Nation’s own Andrew Sharp did raise a great point in this piece, he notes that the teams that don’t get Asomugha could be in for a blessing in disguise. The reasoning is that Asomugha is commanding an awful lot of money right now, and how often do these big ticket free agents pay off? San Francisco only needs to look to Nate Clements for proof of this theory.

None of which is to say Asomugha’s overrated… It’s just that, playing the free agent market comes down to weighing costs, benefits, and risk. And considering he’s already 30 years old, and probably due to drop off over the next few years, even Asomugha’s benefits come with a risk. It’s the paradox with football players.

Last but not least, the greatest comeback in the history of the NFL is reportedly taking place in San Francisco.

This overhyped story takes the cake.

I know California is the capital of medical marijuana, but the memory issues in the Bay Area are beyond explanation now.

Alex Smith has played horribly. Regardless of the excuses and besides a couple bright moments, Alex Smith has been awful for six years.

Let’s put this in perspective.

I am a Real Estate guy. If you asked me to sell your home, and I failed, not once, not twice, but six freaking times, would you ask me to return for a seventh?

No you would not. You wouldn’t even ask me back for a second time.

Would it matter to you if I had a bunch of excuses? No.

The bottom line is, you want your house sold.

Well, the 49ers want to win games. And they want a quarterback that will help them do that.

I will admit Alex is doing great as a fill-in coach. I would love for him to play five to seven more years on the 49ers as a backup.

I think he would be the top No. 2 in the league and very helpful for Colin Kaepernick, or whoever for that matter. But make no mistake, Alex Smith is not going to transform into Joe Montana or Steve Young or even Jeff Garcia. He is going to be Alex Smith.

So please, just stop it.
