49er’S great Joe Montana has been an active player in Bay Area real estate for some time. His latest score: This 2-bedroom condo in San Francisco’s Marina District.
Joe and Jennifer Montana closed escrow on the flat, which per the LA Times is “The lower of two units in a 1920s building…..distinguished by parquet wood flooring, detailed molding and arched doorways and windows throughout.,” just days after making their offer. And no wonder. That offer was for way over asking. And, it came from Joe Montana
We guess retired quarterbacks have money.
The full-floor flat, just under 1,900 square feet, features a fireplace, formal dining room, sunroom, and (shared) patio. It listed in February at $1.95M; the Montanas acquired it for $2.275M. Records also show the unit sold just last year for $1.89M, all in all a very shrewd flip. (Well played, sellers!)
This unit seems quite modest in comparison to the 500-acre “Villa Montana,” which the Montanas listed for a too cute (and turns out, too expensive) $49 million. After a price drop to $35M, the Calistoga estate delisted. In a home suited more for before kids, or well after them, the Montanas also owned an Embarcadero condo that enjoyed some fame when it hit the rental market at $5000 a month. Most recently, the Montanas sold their Millennium Tower unit to the Giants superstar, Hunter Pence, for $1.65M.
