We like football fine, and we have no problem with recently wealthy players spending money on lavish homes. Comes with the territory. But this home, sorry, we have to call foul. And maybe that’s why owner Aldon Smith seeks to sell it. Again.

The 6 bed, 5 bath, 6427 square foot behemoth awkwardly straddles a  level plane of more than 9 acres. Directly above and below, however, appears a sheer, plunging mountain, perhaps one of the strangest places to plan gated luxury homes ever. The property offers much by way of luxury though: according to it’s official write up, it’s among thelargest estates with views of the entire South Bay” on the market now. 4020 Higuera “features a lifestyle fit for a king. Gated private entrance to this sprawling estate includes a large 3 car garage, top of the line home movie theater… formal office, large resort like pool/spa, kids play area, horse stable” and more.

So much to sell it, yet it won’t sell.  Redfin records show the home debuted in January for $388M.  No takers meant a de-listing and re-listing. The San Jose Mercury informs us that “Jacklyn Friedland with McGuire Real Estate is the listing agent. She helped [Aldon] Smith originally purchase the property as an REO in 2012. ” Currently, the home– whose staging defies logic (a sheer curtain as a wall? Like we can’t see the people in the other room just by looking through the thin gauze? We can’t afford actual walls at this price point?) lists for $2,988,000.

Having only been the owner for a short while, it appears Aldon Smith doesn’t want this place very much. Do you, readers?
