2012 Dealmaker of the Year and Kilroy Realty Corp. CEO John Kilroy, Jr., bought four million square feet of space in San Francisco. In February, Kilroy signed the cloud storage company Dropbox to a 12-year lease of 333 Brannan St., a 185,000 square foot building that just recently broke ground.

As the Transbay Joint Powers Authority Executive Director, Maria Ayerdi-Kaplan is overseeing a project of truly immense proportions: the Transbay Transit Center is a $4.5 billion infrastructure creation that has been in the works for decades. With $300 million in land deals and work beginning on what will be the tallest building on the West Coast, this week Ayerdi-Kaplan was named the Business Times’ Dealmaker of the Year for 2013, a distinction that places her among some fairly august real estate company. 

Past winners have continued to make major deals in the Bay Area, while others have found their careers winding down. The slideshow to the right includes Dealmakers of the Year from 2008-2013 and what they’ve been up to recently.
